The Thar Advantage...

Supercritical (SC) fluids possess a combination of properties -- particularly vapor-liquid phase equilibria, viscosity, density and heat capacity -- that make them candidates for collecting solar energy and moving that energy to power recovery devices, such as turbines. The trick is to do this in a manner that is more efficient relative to direct electrical-energy recovery in photovoltaic cells. Thar's years of experience with supercritical carbon dioxide has paved the way to such applications. This includes the development of unique microchannel heat exchangers for handling supercritical fluids.

In some ways, this technology represents a complement to Thar's geothermal HVAC systems, although in this case carbon dioxide is being used to capture freshly arrived energy from the sun rather than to move existing heat between a building and the ground.
